Sam Kutesa Endorses Museveni’s Sole Candidacy at Sembabule Rally
President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on Sunday rallied farmers in Sembabule District to embrace irrigation, pasture planting, and modern farming practices as a means to increase agricultural productivity and withstand climate challenges.
Speaking at a public rally held at Sembabule Playground, Museveni stressed the importance of adopting the Four-Acre Model for smallholders, urging farmers to dedicate land to coffee, fruits, pasture, and food crops for household needs. He emphasized that efficient land use could lead even small farmers to significant wealth.
During the event, Museveni commended Mawogola North MP Shartsi Musherure Kutesa for championing wealth creation among her constituents, contrasting her efforts with politicians who focus on short-term giveaways rather than long-term economic empowerment.
On her part, Hon. Musherure praised President Museveni’s visionary leadership, citing the impact of government programs like the Parish Development Model (PDM), Emyooga, expanded electricity, and piped water access in transforming livelihoods across Sembabule.
Former Foreign Affairs Minister Sam Kutesa added his voice to the call for unity, urging residents to rally behind Museveni as the sole NRM candidate in the upcoming elections. He warned against internal divisions that could weaken the party and allow external adversaries to exploit cracks within.
State Minister for Health (General Duties) and Mawogola West MP, Hon. Anifa Kawooya, also expressed gratitude for Museveni’s focus on economic empowerment. She pledged continued mobilization for initiatives aimed at fighting poverty through agriculture and entrepreneurship.
The rally concluded on a note of unity, with leaders emphasizing the need to consolidate gains made under Museveni’s leadership and prepare for a more prosperous future.
