Museveni: Pope Francis was an Extraordinary Spiritual Leader
President Yoweri Museveni has joined global leaders in mourning Pope Francis, who passed away on Easter Monday at the age of 88. In a heartfelt condolence message issued on Tuesday, Museveni described the Pontiff as “an extraordinary spiritual leader” and a voice for peace, justice, and interfaith unity.
On behalf of Uganda’s government and its people, Museveni extended “deepest and most heartfelt condolences” to the global Catholic community. He praised Pope Francis’ impact on the world, emphasizing his efforts to revitalize faith in a secular age and his compassion that resonated with millions.
Museveni highlighted the Pope’s openness toward engaging with other faiths, saying it reflected the spirit of Christ’s teachings from the parable of the Good Samaritan. He added, “His legacy of love, unity, and service to humanity will endure for generations.”
The Ugandan leader also reaffirmed the country’s solidarity with Catholics during this period of mourning, concluding with a prayer for Pope Francis’ eternal peace.
