Uganda Taps Global Influencers to Spotlight “The Pearl of Africa”

Uganda Welcomes Global Influencers to Showcase Its Cultural and Natural Treasures

In a vibrant campaign to boost its global tourism appeal, Uganda has launched a Familiarization (FAM) Trip, welcoming top influencers from France and Spain to experience and promote the country’s unique offerings. The initiative, led by Uganda’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, brings together influencers with a collective social media reach of over 2 million followers.

During the media briefing in Kampala, Permanent Secretary Vincent Bagiire Waiswa emphasized Uganda’s unmatched climate and cultural richness. “Our location near the equator means we enjoy pleasant weather all year round. Coupled with our rich traditions and diverse heritage, Uganda is unlike any other destination,” he said.

From City Buzz to Safari Thrills

The influencers are set to explore beyond the capital, venturing into Nakasongola to track endangered rhinos, witness traditional farming practices, and experience local cuisine such as matooke. The itinerary also includes white-water rafting on Lake Victoria, bungee jumping, and a visit to the source of the Nile, blending adventure with heritage.

Ambassador Doreen Amule, Uganda’s envoy to France, highlighted the importance of using digital storytelling to shape global perceptions. “Let’s use platforms like Facebook, TikTok, and WhatsApp to share the true beauty of Uganda,” she urged.

Bridging Cultures Through Creativity

The trip is also a platform for international cultural exchange. Ertan Anadol from the creative agency TANKE praised Ugandans’ warmth and openness. “The kindness here is unmatched. You feel at home instantly,” he said. Anadol revealed plans to organize collaborative cultural events, such as joint culinary showcases featuring chefs from Uganda and Europe.

Amb. Amule called on Uganda’s youth to embrace visionary thinking. “These influencers travel with purpose. Our young people can do the same—create jobs, build brands, and inspire others,” she said.

With an itinerary that blends nature, adrenaline, culture, and community, the FAM Trip aims to redefine Uganda’s global image and invite the world to explore “The Pearl of Africa.”
