Kampala, Uganda – Business mogul and philanthropist Dr. Hamis Kiggundu, through his firm Ham Enterprises, has pledged UGX 200 million towards the upcoming Kampala City Festival. The contribution, described as one of the most significant to date, has been hailed as a major boost to the city’s signature annual celebration.

A Call for Collective Support

Speaking during the announcement, Dr. Kiggundu emphasized the responsibility of business leaders to invest in initiatives that strengthen Kampala’s identity and foster community unity.

“As residents and business owners in this city, we employ many people and manage properties here. Supporting activities that enhance Kampala’s development is not just a duty but a pleasure. My contribution is one way of ensuring the festival succeeds,” he said.

He further urged fellow entrepreneurs to follow his example and contribute to sustaining the spirit of the festival.

“This is not just about me. It’s about all of us who live and work in Kampala. I encourage my fellow businessmen to join me in supporting this important event,” he added.

Festival Organizers Respond

Sharifah Buzeki, the Festival’s Executive Director, expressed deep appreciation to Dr. Kiggundu and Ham Enterprises for their landmark sponsorship.

“On behalf of the organizing team, I extend our sincere gratitude to Ham Enterprises and Dr. Hamis Kiggundu for entrusting us with such a generous contribution. UGX 200 million is no small gesture, and it demonstrates a rare spirit of giving back to the very community that sustains business,” she said.

She described the donation as a powerful example of reciprocity between businesses and the communities they serve.

“When people support your business, it is only right to give back. This sponsorship ensures that the people of Kampala will celebrate in style, and we do not take it for granted. Few individuals are willing to part with such an amount simply to bring joy to others,” Ms. Buzeki added.

Looking Ahead

The Kampala City Festival, one of Uganda’s most vibrant cultural showcases, will return on October 5, 2025. The event promises music, art, food, exhibitions, and community activities on an even larger scale this year. With Dr. Kiggundu’s contribution, organizers say the festival will be more inclusive, impactful, and memorable than ever.

“We look forward to seeing you, your staff, and the wider community enjoying the festival,” Ms. Buzeki concluded.

Dr. Kiggundu’s donation not only reinforces preparations for the festival but also serves as a rallying call for other business leaders to support initiatives that enrich urban life and inspire national pride.
