How to Use SchoolPay in Uganda to Pay School Fees

August 8, 2025

SchoolPay is a simple and secure payment platform in Uganda that allows parents and guardians to pay school fees using MTN Mobile Money, Airtel Money, or bank agents. It eliminates long bank queues and ensures the school receives the money instantly. Therefore, knowing how to use SchoolPay in Uganda can save you time and effort.

1. Get the SchoolPay Payment Code
Every registered school has a unique SchoolPay code, also called a School Code. You can obtain it from the school bursar, your child’s admission letter, or the official SchoolPay website. In addition, make sure you have the student’s registration number or full name exactly as it appears in school records.

2. Choose Your Payment Method
SchoolPay offers several payment options. You can pay via MTN Mobile Money, Airtel Money, or at a bank agent partnered with SchoolPay. While all methods are secure, mobile money is the fastest and most convenient for most parents.

3. Pay via MTN Mobile Money

  • Dial *165# on your MTN line.
  • Select Pay Bill, then choose School Fees.
  • Pick SchoolPay from the menu.
  • Enter the School Code.
  • Enter the student’s registration number or name.
  • Enter the amount you want to pay.
  • Confirm the details, then enter your MTN Mobile Money PIN.
You will immediately receive an SMS confirmation from both MTN and SchoolPay, which proves your payment was successful.

4. Pay via Airtel Money

  • Dial *185# on your Airtel line.
  • Select Payments, then choose School Fees.
  • Pick SchoolPay.
  • Enter the School Code.
  • Enter the student’s registration number or name.
  • Enter the payment amount.
  • Confirm the details, then enter your Airtel Money PIN.
Shortly after, you will get an SMS confirmation from Airtel and SchoolPay. This message serves as proof of payment.

5. Pay via Bank Agents
If you prefer paying in cash, visit a bank agent that partners with SchoolPay, such as Centenary Bank or dfcu Bank agents. Provide the School Code, the student’s registration number or name, and the amount to pay. The agent will process the transaction and give you a printed receipt. You will also receive an SMS confirmation from SchoolPay.

6. Keep Your Receipt
It is important to keep the SMS and printed receipts until the school confirms the payment. This documentation can help resolve any disputes that may arise later.

When you know how to use SchoolPay in Uganda, paying school fees becomes fast, safe, and convenient. Moreover, the system provides instant confirmation, giving you peace of mind that your child’s school has received the funds.
