On Thursday, Russia’s defense ministry announced its ongoing stealth maneuvers with Yars intercontinental ballistic missiles in the Volga region. A newly released video shows Yars missile launchers navigating through a snowy forest, underscoring the system’s strategic mobility and capabilities.
The Yars, deployable on truck carriers or in silos, plays a crucial role in Russia’s nuclear defense strategy. These maneuvers, similar to last year’s, serve as a nuclear deterrent amidst escalated tensions with the West over Ukraine.
The defense ministry reports that these missiles are now maneuvering along “combat patrol routes” under camouflage, covering distances up to 100 km (62 miles) in the field. Troops are actively practicing defenses against sabotage and reconnaissance by potential enemies to ensure comprehensive readiness.
