- All vehicle owners with old-style plates.

- New vehicle importers must register directly with digital plates.

Step-by-Step Guide to Switching to Digital Plates
1. Confirm Ownership
Ensure the vehicle is registered in your name. Ownership verification is crucial before initiating the plate replacement process.
2. Access the ITMS Portal
Visit the official ITMS booking system at itms_ug to schedule your plate replacement appointment.
3. Book an Appointment
After logging in:
- Choose a convenient location and date for plate installation.
- The system will confirm your booking via SMS or email.
4. Make Payment
Pay the applicable fee:
- Vehicles: UGX 150,000
- Motorcycles: UGX 50,000
Payment can be made through the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) portal or designated banks.
5. Plate Installation
On your appointment date:
- Visit the selected fitment center.
- Present your vehicle and necessary documents.
- Technicians will install the new digital plates and synchronize them with the ITMS.
Important Notes
- Deadline: All vehicles must transition to digital plates by January 2027.
- Tampering: Altering or removing the digital components is illegal and punishable by law.
- Lost Plates: If your old plates are lost, report to the authorities before applying for replacements.
